CYGNET - is the Central Yorkshire Group NETwork
This is an agreement between u3a groups in our region - it enables members to attend interest groups in other local u3as. Imagine you wanted to play walking netball, but there was no such interest group in Sherburn and Villages; as an alternative to setting up your own interest group, you could see if there was already such a group in one of the other Cygnet groups, and apply to join that group.
Members are:
- Garforth, Kippax & District
- Leeds
- Selby & District
- Sherburn & Villages
- Tadcaster & Villages
So how can you utilise the CYGNET network?
First visit the other participants' websites and check their group's page. If there is availability in the interest group, contact our Cygnet representative Brian Lawrence and he will liaise with Cygnet, to see if it is possible for you to join that interest group - you do not need to join that particular u3a though normal charges for the group such as venue and refreshments will obviously apply.
In addition, it enables friendly competition between common interest groups, such as Quizzes, Snooker, Chess, Bridge, etc.
